Don’t Kony 2012!

Kony 2012… I’m sure by now I don’t need to explain what it is. Everyone has seen the campaign and I’m sure you’ve all seen the video. I’m not up for Kony 2012 and here’s why…

Ask yourself this question. What will happen to Kony if he’s caught? What do you actually think will happen to him? They are obviously going to kill him. They will find him and give him a sentence and he will receive a death penalty. Well that’s if they don’t just shoot him right away.

So when you support Kony 2012 you support the death of a man. That’s what the Kony campaign is all about. Give Kony a wanted tag and lets find him and then he’ll get punished (killed).

The argument against this is that many people are getting killed because of Kony. If he died then many others would be saved. You could say that killing Kony would be the best thing to do as you save many others. But I want to think what Jesus would do if he was he in person.

Would Jesus be up for the death of a person, even if they deserved it? In John 8 a woman is brought to Jesus. She had been caught in the act of adultery. By the Law of Moses they should stone her. Now remember to Jesus, all sin is unbearable. She is a sinner and she deserves death. She deserves eternal death. Did Jesus send her there? Did Jesus say stone her? No her didn’t. He was more interested in showing her love and saving her.

I’m sure at the time there were men like Kony on the earth. I don’t read any stories about Jesus killing any one or any of the early disciples. Paul could have saved so many people by killing some of the Pharisees but he didn’t.

I also think it’s safe to assume that Kony isn’t a Christian. So if we support in the killing of him then we support sending a man directly to hell. A soul lost for eternity. If Peter or one of the other disciples had killed Paul that would have been it for him. An eternity in hell. But they didn’t. They cared more about him coming to follow Jesus than their own lives. Paul was just like Kony; a man that deserved to die. But he wasn’t killed and he became a follower of Christ. Wouldn’t it be cool if Kony became a follower of Christ?

Let’s pray for Kony and his men. Let’s pray that they find plenty of Christians. Let’s pray that Christ’s love gets shown to them and for a complete change of heart that Kony and his men may fall and the cross in submission and give their lives to follow him. Let’s pray for young Christians that are willing to die themselves before they kill another so that they message of Christ is shown to them. Let’s pray for the invisible children.

As Shane Claiborne might say, I would die for the invisible children but I wouldn’t kill for them.

Fire into Rain

In order to make a sword a man will take some metal and heat it in a fire. Then once the piece of metal is red hot he will take it out and hit it a few times. The man will do this a few times. Every so often the man will place the sword into water. This will cool the temperature of the metal.

They put the work-in-progress into the water to strengthen the metal. If the sword was not placed into the water then the molecular structure of the metal would be weaken. The man hitting the piece of metal would weaken the metal if it wasn’t for the coolness of the water.

We all love to have the fire of God within us. I’m sure we all experienced a time when we were so on fire for God. But remember, were a work-in-progress. We all like pieces of metal that look nothing like the finished product that God wants us to look like. We’re messed up and sinful.

God takes us at times and He puts a fire in our belly. He stirs up our spirit and we are so on fire for Him. Constantly we take hits from the devil and this weakens us. When were on fire they don’t hurt us or drag us down at all. But when were constantly hit down and down we get weak and finally crack. So God takes us and places us in the water. These times are the hardest and we seem to struggle with life. We suffer day and night but it’s all because of a plan that God has so we are not weaken by Satan, but strengthened for His glory and His works.

The water process is a period of time were God takes a step back and sees how we’re getting on. Just like a father trying to teach his son how to cycle. The father cannot hold onto the bike the whole time. The father must let go to test how well the child is learning. If the child falls the father is there to pick him up and dust him down; to tell him it’s okay and then to embrace him and help him back unto the bike. Therefore the water process is a test of strength to see how where doing and when we are tested we learn and grow stronger.

Romans 12:3-5

More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

Boy Meets Girl Quote

“On your back with you!” One raises a mallet to sink in the spike. But the solder’s heart must continue pumping as he readies the prisoner’s wrist. Someone must sustain the soldier’s life minute by minute, for no man has this power on his own. Who supplies breath to his lungs? Who gives energy to his cells? Who holds his molecules together? Only by the Son do “all things hold together” (Colossains 1:17). The victim wills that the soldier live on – he grants the warriors continued existence. The man swings.

As the man swings, the Son recalls how he and the Father first designed the medial nerve of the human forearm – the sensations it would be capable of. The design proves flawless – the nerves perform exquisitely. “Up you go!” They lift the cross. God is on display wearing nothing and can scarcely breathe.

But these pains are a mere warm-up to his other and growing dread. He begins to feel a foreign sensation. Somewhere during this day an unearthly foul odour began to waft, not around his nose, but his heart. He feels dirty. Human wickedness starts to crawl upon his spotless being – the living excitement from our souls. The apple of his Father’s eye turns brown with rot.

His Father! He must face his Father like this!

From heaven the Father now rouses himself like a lion disturbed, shakes his mane, and roars against the shrivelling remnant of a man hanging on a cross. Never has the Son seen the Father look at him so, never felt even the least of his hot breath. But the roar shakes the unseen world and darkens the visible sky. The Son does not recognize these eyes.

“Son of Man! Why have you behaved so? You have cheated, lusted, stolen, gossiped – murdered, envied, hated, lied. You have cursed, robbed, over-spent, overeaten – fornicated, disobeyed, embezzled, and blasphemed. Oh, the duties you have shirked, the children you have abandoned! Who has ever so ignored the poor, so played the coward, so belittled my name? Have you ever held your razor tongue? What a self-righteous, pitiful drunk – you, who molest young boys, peddle killer drugs, travel in cliques, and mock you parents. Who gave you the boldness to rig elections, foment revolutions, torture animals, and worship demons? Does the list never end! Splitting families, rapping virgins, acting smugly, playing the pimp – buying politicians, practicing exhortation, filming pornography, accepting bribes. You have burned down buildings, perfected terrorist tactics, founded false religions, traded in slaves – relishing each morsel and bragging about it all. I hate, loathe these things in you! Disgust for everything about you consumes me! Cam you not feel my wrath?”

Of course the Son is innocent. He is blamelessness itself, The Father knows this. But the divine pair have an agreement, and the unthinkable must now take place. Jesus will be treated as if personally responsible for every sin ever committed.

The Father watches as his heart’s treasure, the mirror image of himself, sinks drowning into raw, liquid sin. Jehovah’s stored rage against humankind from every century explodes in a single direction.

“Father, Father! Why have you forsaken me?!”

But heaven stops its ears. The Son stares up at the One who cannot, who will not, reach down or reply.

The Trinity had planned it. The Son endured it. The Spirit enabled him. The Father rejected the Son whom he loved. Jesus, the God-man from Nazareth, perished. The Father accepted his sacrifice for sin and was satisfied. The Rescue was accomplished.

Here Shifu is getting worried by the thought of Tai Lung escaping from prison. He doesn’t see how Tai Lung could escape by sending Zeng to the prison to make sure he doesn’t escape. Of course this is the thing that does make Tai Lung escape. Oogway tells him, ‘Your mind is like this water, my friend, when it is agitated, it becomes difficult to see, but if you allow it to settle, the answer becomes clear.’ Satan agitates us so that we can’t see God as clearly as we normally do. This makes it harder to focus our life around God. Sometimes we just have to stop and take a break, so that our mind can settle so we can see God clearly again and focus our life around him. God bless

Let me remind you of that line Oogway said. ‘One often finds his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it.’ Sometimes we do something to avoid being tempted by Satan. If it is of our own doing it may be the very thing that tempts you. Seek God and ask him to lead you away from these temptations. Don’t try to do it yourself. God bless

Believing

Shifu says how the peach could not defeat Tai Lung. He was really saying that Po couldn’t defeat him. Oogway told him maybe it could, but if he was willing to guide it, to nurture it, to believe in it. I ask you to find someone older than you and younger than you that you can trust and believe in. Ask the older wiser person to help you along in your walk with God. Chose someone that you know will believe in you. And also help and believe in that younger person and teach them wisdom in Christ. God bless
